Oncology

Cancer is one word that comprises hundreds of different cancers.

Cancer – and the treatment of it, called oncology – is a vast topic for many reasons. Firstly, cancer is unique to each person. Not only are there “subtypes” of many cancers, but cancer varies by its location in your body and its rate of growth.

Another reason why cancer is such a vast topic is because of the large number of cancer treatment available. Over the past several decades, researchers have developed newer treatments to add to your cancer team’s arsenal. Just as cancer is unique to your, so must your treatment be.

Every day the medical community discovers or develops promising new drugs and new methods. This applies to newer treatment types – like immunological therapy – as well as the standard three (radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery).
